I'll be getting my confirmation sometime next month. In the long haul, I've been persevering until now. There were times I dread going to work because I have the anticipation of nursing difficult or very ill patients. Sometimes it's not the patients that are giving us problems, it's their relatives who kept bugging us for answers which are not within our capacity to explain to them. I can't blame them because I'll do the same if I were in their shoes. Somehow or rather there are some people who are deliberately out to seek trouble, I suggest they should either move the patient to another better hospital or upgrade to another ward.

I'm no longer afraid of going to work although I felt dreadful at times because I'm a Christian now. Eversince I started believing in Christ, things do change. I became confident, braver & meticulous. I always pray for strength, courage, wisdom, patience & assurance so that I can nurse my patients without being afraid. True enough whenever I pray for whatever I wish, God always answer my prayers. I'm thankful for that.

I still have another 1.5 yrs to complete my bond. My ex-classmates & Tina have already started their diploma course at their respective polytechnics. I feel so envious for them because I'm still stuck with my bond. Anyway I always tell myself to be positive that throughout my 2 years as an enrolled nurse, I should brush up my skills & learn from my colleagues so by then when it's my turn to do diploma I wouldn't be so lost in my modules. Ha... I'll be 27 yrs ++ lo...

I wouldn't want to work in a hospital setting again after I graduated as a Staff Nurse. But that place is like a gold mine!!!! We nurse in-patients in exchange for allowances. Haha...

Today is my off day because I've just completed my 3 night shifts. I'll be doing another round next week again, but this time it's 4 nights followed by 3 days off... woohoo... I heard a lot of non-healthcare people commented about working night shifts is very relaxing. Well, I only have 1 word in reply to their query ie. bullshit!

In night shifts, we've to do closing of patients' Intake & Output charts, do 3 rounds of parameters, change 2 rounds of diapers, do sponging for very ill patients the coming morning (depending on the no. of dangerously ill patients we have), top up any documentation charts or ward stock if we've spare time. Most of the times we will have new admissions at any hour. The last round which I encountered was 5 admissions consecutively that my Staff Nurse have to call in the deployed staff to help us. Can you imagine during that time I've missed out 2 rounds of parameter-taking just because of new admissions? Since then I kinda felt "traumatised" by that incident because it's too much for me to take already. So whenever I do my night shifts, I'll pray hard not to receive any admissions during my time. Ha... Speaking of admissions, this is 1 of the routines which we nurses fear.

I'm thankful to God that He answered my prayers during my recent night shifts. There was no admission on my team. Hallelujah!!! Besides that, there were lesser patients to nurse because it's Hari Raya season. Therefore I'm able to finish my work early & able to bring more patients to shower just to help out the morning staff. Ha... During mid-nights, there's really nothing to do that 4 of us just sat at the nurse's station to chat & use the PC. This Wei Ying ordered Macdonald's for us. She's just rich sia... On my very 1st round of night shift, she also treated us KFC.

I'll continue to pray for smoother work flow & no fear to work with my patients. God really changes things!!! I can share some of my testimonials if you ask me!!! =)
